7. FX (EFFECTS)
When the original Casio CZ instruments were introduced, “affordable” digital multieffect
units like the Yamaha SPX-90 were first becoming available…at a cost of over $700. Reverb,
chorus, flanging, etc. were too expensive to be built into keyboards at the time.
Times have changed! The Arturia CZ V has digital multi-effects built right in, available under
the FX tab on the right side of the central window:
7.1. Series and parallel module configuration
The CZ V has a total of four effect modules. Each module can be any one of nine different
effects, or left unused. The modules can be arranged in two different ways:
• a chain of four in series, with both Line 1 and Line 2 being processed by all the
modules, or
• two parallel chains, with each Line going through its own two modules.
♪
: It may be necessary to adjust the Wet/Dry balance of an effect in order to hear it or the original
signal all the way through the FX signal path.

into an Overdrive into a Multimode Filter. Follow the blue arrows to trace
the signal flow. The green controls are available as Mod destinations in the
Mod matrix.
The same effect modules as in the first illustration, but in parallel mode.
Line 1 is going through a Reverb into a Multimode Filter, and Line 2 is going
through a Chorus into an Overdrive. Note the addition of the Line 1 and Line
2 volume controls on the right side.
