40. Install the key in the crankshaft; then place the
starter clutch in position and loosely secure the
starter clutch with three cap screws (coated with
red Loctite #271).
41. Slide the flywheel onto the crankshaft making sure
the keyways match.

NOTE: Before installing the flywheel, be sure to
wipe the crankshaft and flywheel tapers clean
using a clean towel.
42. Apply red Loctite #271 to the threads of the fly-
wheel cap screw; then install the cap screw with a
large flat washer and finger-tighten.

43. Using the spanner wrench, tighten the flywheel
cap screw to 50 ft-lb; then with the spanner
wrench in position, tighten the six starter clutch
cap screws securely (from step 40).
44. Apply a thin coat of high-temperature silicone
sealant to each exhaust port and install the exhaust
gaskets with the metal sides facing out; then install
the exhaust manifold and secure with four flange
nuts and lock washers. Tighten the four nuts to 8
ft-lb.
45. Install the magneto case on the crankcase account-
ing for the different-sized cap screws and the
alignment pins. Tighten the cap screws to 40 ft-lb.

Installing Engine
1. Secure the bottom engine mount to the engine using
four new patch-lock cap screws making sure the
mount is orinentated correctly. Tighten to 35 ft-lb.

2. Position the engine into the chassis (from the right
side) allowing enough room to install and tighten
the upper and lower rear coolant hoses to the
engine.
3. Position the engine to the mounting locations in
the chassis; then secure the bottom of the engine
using new patch-lock cap screws. Tighten to 35 ft-
lb.

4. Install the lower and upper coolant hoses and
secure using the existing hose clamps.
