Pre-Race/Practice Checklist
If, at any time, abnormal noises, vibrations, or
improper working conditions of any component of this
snowmobile are detected, DO NOT OPERATE THE
SNOWMOBILE. Immediately diagnose and repair
any component. If the operator does not feel qualified
to service the suspension, see an authorized Arctic Cat
Snowmobile dealer for this service.
Engine
This engine sub-section has been organized to show a
progression for the complete servicing of the Arctic
Cat 600 cc engine. For consistency purposes, this sub-
section shows a complete and thorough progression;
however, for efficiency it may be preferable to remove
and disassemble only those components which need to
be addressed and to service only those components.
The technician should use discretion and sound judg-
ment.
NOTE: Critical torque specifications can be
found on page 2 of this manual.
NOTE: Some illustrations and photographs used
in this section are used for clarity purposes only
and are not designed to depict actual conditions.
Removing Engine
1. Disconnect the exhaust temperature sensor; then
remove the exhaust springs and hairpin clips
securing the expansion chamber and resonator to
the chassis. Remove the chamber and resonator.
2. Using Drive Clutch Bolt Tool (p/n 0644-281),
remove the cap screw and lock washer securing
the drive clutch to the crankshaft; then remove the
cap screw securing the driven clutch to the shaft.
3. Using Clutch Puller (p/n 0744-062) and an impact
wrench or breaker bar and Spanner Wrench (p/n
0644-136), tighten the puller. If the drive clutch
will not release, sharply strike the head of the
puller. Repeat this step until the clutch releases.
Remove the drive clutch/driven clutch and the
drive belt.
4. Remove and retain the two lock nuts securing the
servomotor to the heat shield; then remove from
the mount.
RA001A
5. Remove both clips securing the servo cables to the
servomotor. Remove the cables.
NOTE: Take note of how the cables are routed for
installation purposes.
