Wait 300 msec for FSWP to complete the PM measurement.

Note “PM RMS Deviation” shown in the FSWP “Summary” window. Units should be radians.

Calculate “FM pk dev” = sqrt(2)*(mod rate)*(RMS phase deviation, radians)

Calculate: "Norm FM dev" = (FM pk dev)/(FM pk dev at 1 kHzmod rate for the current RF freq)

At 1 kHz mod rate, this gives “Norm FM dev” = 1. Other mod rates may produce a different result.

Calculate: Flatness = 20*log(Norm FM dev). Record Flatness for the current mod rate.

External Function Generator :
10 Hz, Channel OFF.
MG362x1A:
Wide (unlocked) FM mode, Ext FM, DC Coupled, Sensitivity = 10 MHz/V, FM ON.
FSWP:
Tab “Spectrum”. This will replace the previous measurement windows with the spectrum analyzer
display. (If there is no Spectrum tab, press the Mode button, then Add RF Spectrum)
Span = 100 MHz, RBW = 1 MHz, VBW = 1 MHz, Sweep Time = Auto, Trigger = Free Run.
Trace Config:
Trace 1 Clear/Write, Linear, Smoothing = 1 %.
Test Procedure

Set FSWP Marker peak search. Note marker frequency.
Tab “Analog Demod”. This will replace the spectrum analyzer display with the “Frequency Time
Domain” window and “Summary” window. The “Summary” Display will show FM results.
2.
Set RF frequency to match marker frequency readout from
. This will center the DUT carrier
within the demod BW.
Meas Config / Demod BW = 40 MHz
Meas Time = 350 msec
Scale Config = 5 MHz/div.
