Step 2: Setting Up The 2 Ethernet Switches
Overview
There are two Ethernet connectors on the HT Server, labeled "ETHERNET CONTROL" and one labeled
"A/V OUT" (FIG. 13).
The ETHERNET CONTROL port is used for control communications and internet access, and the A/V
OUT port is used for media distribution.
While it is critical that the A/V segment is on a Gigabit switch, the CONTROL segment does not require
a gigabit switch.
It is critical that these two connections are kept on separate, switched network segments.
The easiest way to set up and maintain two separate switched segments is to use two separate Ethernet
switches. In our example, we'll use a matching pair of NXA-ENET24PoE Gigabit switches.
To Set Up The Two Ethernet Switches
1.
Connect both Ethernet Switches to the UPS, and apply power (FIG. 14).
