Connect Sensor to the Vacuum System
Open Source and AMETEK Vacuum Chamber
1.
Using a new copper gasket, place the sensor into the AMETEK vacuum
chamber so that the source resides inside the long end of the chamber.
Be sure the repeller clears the chamber walls.
2.
Orient the barrel notch in the 12 o’clock position (Figure 3-1).
3.
Bolt the source flange in place using the (6) ¼-28 x 1” screws and
washer provided. Tighten in a star pattern to ensure a good seal.
4.
Install the appropriate inlet components to the source end of the vac-
uum chamber if they are not already installed. These consist of a ¾”
thick VCR flange, a blank flange, a manual high-conductance valve or
electro-pneumatic (EP) high-conductance valve, two copper gaskets, and
fastener hardware. Inlet details
are found in the Chapter 5.
