INPUT VOLTAGE LIMIT
The progra mmable electronic loa d can ha ndle volta ges with in nomina l va lues and surge volta ges less tha n 5% a bove
nomina l va lue. The Over-volta ge protection will be tripped when the input volta ge exceeds 5% of nom ina l va lue. For
CV mode a pplica tion, the input power source should ha ve current limit ca pability to prevent exceeding the electronic
load’s input current range.
Two over volta ge protection fea tures ha ve been provided. 1) Over volta ge protection to limit ma ximum current to 5%
a bove nomina l va lue. 2) Softwa re selecta ble, the user ca n set a nd rea d ba ck the input protection volta ge level.
High voltage and high current operation may result in a fault condi tion, shutting down the Load input. E nsure
that the maximum voltage and current applied to the electronic load does not exceed the power rating.
INPUT CURRENT LIMIT
The nomina l current va lues a re indica ted in the specifica tion da ta sheet. During Loa d bank opera tion in C V (Consta nt
Volta ge) mode, limiting the input current a t high volta ges become a critica l fa ctor. The interna l structure of the Loa d
Bank and the Over-Current protection will limit the ma ximum current to less tha n 5% a bove nomina l ra ted current.
However, the combined input current a nd volta ge ca n ea sily exceed the maximum ra ted power. If the power overloa d
condition persists over a time period, the a ccumula ted over-power energy will trigger the ha rdwa re OP protection, a nd
control the input current to not exceed 120% of ma x ra ted power. Fo r CC mode opera tion, the input power source should
be a CV source or opera te in CV mode, to a void potentia l unsta ble conditions ca used b y two Constant Current Control
loops. As for overpower conditions in CC mode, plea se limit the input volta ge to prevent the OP fa ult condition shutting
down the Loa d input.
Two over current protection fea tures have been provided. 1) Over current protec tion to limit maximum current to 5%
a bove nomina l va lue. 2) Softwa re selecta ble, the user ca n set a nd rea d ba ck the input protection current level.
High voltage and high current operation may result in a fault condi tion, shutting down the Load input. E nsure
that the maximum voltage and current applied to the electronic load does not exceed the power rating.
INPUT POWER LIMIT
The progra mma ble electronic loa d is designed to ha ndle power up to 110% of Ma x Power Ra ting, with input volta ge a nd
current below the ma x ra ted specifica tions. As a recommendation, the input power source should not exceed the max
ra ted power, to a void fault conditions shutting the Loa d input off. As indica ted in the specifica tion sheet, Consta nt Power
mode requires a current limit for ea ch ra nge (CPL, C PM, a nd CPH), which ca nnot exceed the corresponding current ra nge
ma x va lue (CCL, CCM, a nd CCH).
Anticipate the Maximum output of the power source carefully and consider the worst-case scenario. The
maximum power range of the load should be higher than the output power of the source. High voltage and h igh
current operation may result in a fault condition, shutting down the Load input.
For C P mode a pplica tion, the progra mmable electronic loa d ca n be set to ma ximum power dissipa tion with the following
limita tions. Input must be within ma ximum volta ge a nd current ratings. For exa mple, PLA1.2K-120-200, the ma x ra ted
values are 120V/200A/1200W. Therefore, the maximum power will be limited to a combination of “voltage x current
values” equating to 1,200W. Thus, CP mode is limited by the hardware's maximum current, voltage and power ratings.
