Oscillation Protection (OSC):
The eLoa d offers oscilla tion protection to prevent the system or DUT from being da ma ged during unsta ble opera ting
conditions. If the oscilla tion exceeds 1.2% of ra ted volta ge or ra ted current depending on user’s opera tiona l mode a nd
over 1.5Khz frequency threshold for longer tha n the progra mmed oscilla tion dela y, the input will shut down a nd a n a la rm
message “OSC” will display. For applications with load input having dc plus ac perturbations, the OSC protection can be
disa bled. Plea se refer to the menu tree for f urther disa bling procedures.
Product used with oscillation protection turned off may cause product failure. Failure occurring as a result of
oscillation application or turn-off of this feature will not be covered under warranty.
Anti-Oscillation:
In addition to the “OSC” protection, the eLOAD has four selectable system bandwidth controls: Default, OSC1, OSC2
a nd OSC3, tha t will a djust the system speed to resolve potentia l oscilla tion problem s. The slew time ra nges will va ry
a ccording to the ra nge selected. At Defa ult sta te, it ha s the widest ba ndwidth a nd fa st tra nsient time to a chieve -3db
frequency a t 10Khz . At OSC1 sta te, it ha s the norma l ba ndwidth a nd tra nsient time. At OSC2 a nd OSC3 sta te, th ey ha ve
the slower tra nsient time in order to ha ve the better sta bility. The selection of different ba ndwidth ra nges a llows for
higher speed or slower sta ble a pplica tions.
Self-Test Failure:
The self-test a ssures ea rly detection of ha rdwa re problems a n d forces the input off when a fa ilure does occur.
The a ppropria te bit(s) in the sta tus registers a re set when a ny of the a bove protection fea tures a re a ctive. The front pa nel
displa y will indica te which condition(s) ha ve been detected.
Resetting Latched Protection
All of the protection fea tures rema in la tched (set) when they a re tripped. The la tched protection fea tures ca n be reset via
the front pa nel PROT (CLEAR) key or the digita l interfa ces. The condition tha t ca used the protection fea ture to trip must
be removed or it will trip a ga in a s soon a s it is reset.
Bias Voltage Protection (VPP & VNP)
For the electronic loa d to opera te properly it requires a n interna l +12 V
DC
a nd -12V
DC
volta ge to bia s different pa rts of the
system. In the case that the +12V bias voltage malfunctions, a “VPP” error message will appear indicating a voltage
positive power error. If the -12V bia s volta ge ma lfunctions, a “VNP” error will a ppea r indica ting a volta ge nega tive
power error. For either of these error messa ges, plea se conta ct AMETEK Technica l Support. The electronic loa d most
likely ha d a serious interna l ma lfunction tha t ca used the system to shutdown.
Note: For VPP and VNP failures, please refrain from repairing the unit, for it may inflict further damage.
In Fault Protection (INF)
If the electronic loa d is forced to susta in too much power, current or volta ge in a short a mount of time, the interna l power
sta ge ma y ha ve been da maged. If the da ma ge is serious enough, the system ha rdwa re will shut down a nd the displa y will
show an “In_Fault” or “INF” error message. When this message occurs, please contact AMETEK customer service. The
electronic loa d most likely ha s a power sta ge ma lfunction a nd will no longer opera te norma lly.
Note: For INF failure, please refrain from repairing the unit, for it may inflict further damage.
