Transient Level:
The tra nsient level ca n be set a t front pa nel or via digita l interfa ces. The electronic loa d input will switch between the
ma in level a nd the tra nsient level when tra nsient opera tion is turned on. During tra nsient opera tion, the loa d will switch
from the immedia te level to the tra nsient level determined by the progra mmed slew time. When the loa d is in current
control mode, a void the ma in level from zero. Beca use control circuits a re potentia lly off.
Triggered Level:
The level ca n be preset (stored in the electronic loa d) a llowing the input to be upda ted when a trigger is received. Trigger
level ca n only be cha nged via digita l interfa ces, a nd ca n be progra mmed to a ny va lue within the mode’s ra nge settings.
Slew Rate:
The slew ra te determines the ra te a t which the input to the electronic loa d cha nges to a new progra mmed va lue. Slew
time (positive a nd nega tive) a nd level cha nge ca n be set a t the front pa nel or via the digita l interfa ces. To better
a ccommodate user a pplica tions, the positive a nd nega tive edge of the slew ra te ca n be set independently. The
progra mmed slew ra te rema ins in effect for the triggered a nd tra nsient level cha nges previously described.
Input Control:
Short On/Off:
The electronic loa d ca n simula te a short circuit a t its input by turning the loa d on with full-sca le current. The short circuit
ca n be toggled on/off a t the front pa nel or via the digita l interfa ces while Short On/Off is ena bled. The short on/off
switch-over uses the slew ra te setting of the a ctive mode a nd ra nge. The a ctua l va lue of the electronic short is dependent
on the mode a nd ra nge tha t a re a ctive when the short is turned on. In CV mode it is equiva lent to progra mming zero
volts. In CC mode it is equiva lent to progra mming full-sca le current for the present current ra nge. In CR mode it is
equiva lent to progra mming the minimum resista nce for the present resista nce ra nge.
Important Notes:
1)
Turning the short on in CV mode ma y ca use the loa d to dra w so much current tha t the softwa re current limit
triggers, which ma y turn the input off (Protection Mode).
2)
It is da ngerous to a ctiva te short opera tion when testing ba tteries or other DUT without current limit. The
eLOAD will a ct a s a n infinite current sink, a nd dra in Ma ximum Current until severe da ma ges occur to both the
DUT a nd eLOAD. In the worst ca se scena rio, the DUT/ba ttery could ca tch on fire or explode.
Turning the short circuit on does not a ffect the progra mmed settings, a nd the loa d input will return to the previously
progra mmed va lues when the short is turned off.
Input On/Off:
The electronic load’s input can be toggled on/off at the front panel, or via the digital interfaces. Turning the input off
(zero current) does not a ffect the progra mmed settings. The input will return to the previously progra mmed settings when
the input is a ctiva ted a ga in.
Note: The input on/off command supersedes the mode and short on/off command.
Transient Operation:
Tra nsient opera tion ena bles the electronic loa d to periodica lly switch between two loa d levels. Tra nsient opera tion ca n be
turned on a nd off a t the front pa nel or via the digita l interfa ces. Before y ou turn on the tra nsient opera tion, you should set
the desired mode of opera tion a s well a s a ll of the pa ra meters a ssocia ted with tra nsient opera tion under va rying
combina tions of loa d levels, frequency, duty cycle, a nd slew ra te. Tra nsient opera tion ma y be used in CC, CR, CV or CP
modes a nd ca n be continuous, pulsed, triggered, stepped or toggled. During tra nsient opera tion, the loa d will switch from
the immedia te level to the tra nsient level determined by the progra mmed slew time. In ca ses where the tra nsition from
