Media Analysis Utility
The Media Analysis utility performs a series of tests to locate bad or damaged tracks on the hard
disk as a result of aging or poor handling. This utility locates all bad tracks and lists them in the
Bad Track List Box. Since this test writes to all cylinders and heads on the hard disk to verify any
bad tracks, the test requires several minutes to complete. For best results, run this test in its
entirety. Media Analysis does not work on IDE or SCSI drives.
Select Media Analysis from the main Hard Disk Utility Menu and press <Enter>. The following
screen appears.
The cursor is on Proceed. The warning screen appears. Press <Enter> to stop. The main Hard Disk
Utility screen appears. Type Y and press <Enter> to perform the hard disk drive analysis.
