Section 5 Service Procedures
To reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, explosion, serious injury or death:
• Disconnect electric power to the dryer(s) before servicing.
• Close gas shut-off valve to gas dryer(s) before servicing.
• Never start the dryer(s) with any guards/panels removed.
• Whenever ground wires are removed during servicing, these ground wires must be
reconnected to ensure that the dryer is properly grounded.

55. IMPELLER AND HOUSING
a. Remove front panel. Refer to Paragraph 31,
steps “a” through “c”.
b. Remove motor and exhaust assembly. Refer to
Paragraph 54, steps “b” through “g”.
c. Hold motor pulley securely and unthread
impeller from motor shaft. (Right hand thread.)
d. Remove three hex head screws and washers
which hold the exhaust housing to the motor
mounting bracket. Refer to Figure 31.
56. MOTOR
a. Remove front panel. Refer to Paragraph 31,
steps “a” through “c”.
b. Remove motor and exhaust assembly. Refer to
Paragraph 54, steps “b” through “g”.
c. Remove hex head screw holding ground wire to
exhaust fan cover. Refer to Figure 29.
NOTE: Ground wire must be routed as shown in
Figure 29. Refer to Section 2, Grounding.
d. Hold motor pulley securely and unthread
impeller from motor shaft. (Right hand thread.)
e. Remove the three screws and washers which
hold the exhaust housing to the motor mounting
bracket. Refer to Figure 31.
f. Disconnect ground wire from motor.
g. Remove two motor strap assemblies holding
motor in mounting bracket. Refer to Figure 32.
Then lift motor out of mounting bracket.
NOTE: When replacing motor, motor switch
location should be a 10 o’clock. Refer to Figure 32.
NOTE: Refer to appropriate wiring diagram when
rewiring motor switch.
TO REMOVE MOTOR SWITCH
a. Remove two screws holding switch to motor.
b. Disconnect internal motor leads from switch
terminals.
NOTE: Refer to wiring schematic when rewiring
internal motor switch leads.
