Section 5 Service Procedures
To reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, explosion, serious injury or death:
• Disconnect electric power to the dryer(s) before servicing.
• Close gas shut-off valve to gas dryer(s) before servicing.
• Never start the dryer(s) with any guards/panels removed.
• Whenever ground wires are removed during servicing, these ground wires must be
reconnected to ensure that the dryer is properly grounded.

24. START SWITCH — ALL MODELS
a. Refer to Figures 8, 9 or 10 for switch removal.
25. FLUORESCENT TUBE AND TUBE
HOLDERS
Refer to Figure 11 for removal.
26. BALLAST
Refer to Figure 11 for ballast removal.
27. CONTROL PANEL
Type shown in Figure 8
a. Remove panel screw and lift assembly off panel
support.
b. Remove left and right control hood ends. Refer
to Figure 11.
c. Lift hood top panel off panel assembly,
d. Pull knob off timer shaft.
e. Pull knob off signal control and collar off light
switch ferrule nut.
NOTE: When timer knob is installed, adjust
indicator. Refer to Paragraph 67.
f. Pull knob off temperature selector switch and
remove start switch collar.
g. Tilt control panel forward slightly and raise to
disengage bottom edge of panel from panel
trim, Figure 11.
CONTROL PANEL
Type shown in Figure 9
a. Remove control panel attaching screws and lift
assembly off panel support.
b. Remove left and right control hood ends.
c. Pull knob off timer shaft.
NOTE: When timer knob is installed, adjust
indicator. Refer to Paragraph 67.
d. Pull knob off signal control, if present.
e. Pull knob off temperature selector switch, if
present and remove knurled nut and lockwasher
holding switch in control panel.
NOTE: When reinstalling switch, lockwasher must
be between knurled nut and control panel for
grounding purposes.
f. Remove hex nut holding start switch and
lockwasher in control panel.
NOTE: When reinstalling switch, lockwasher must
be between switch and control panel for grounding
purposes.
g. Remove three screws holding timer in control
panel.
To Test Push-To-Start Switch
1. Remove control panel screws and lift assembly
off panel support. Refer to Figures 8, 9 or 10.
2. Set Volt-Ohm meter on Ohms scale and “zero”
at appropriate scale.
3. Unplug dryer from electrical supply and
disconnect wires from switch terminals.
4. Place meter probes on switch terminals. You
should see an “infinite” reading on the meter.
5. With probes attached to switch, press the Push-
to-Start switch button. You should read “0”
(zero) Ohms.
To Test Ballast:
1. Remove control panel screws and lift assembly
off panel support. Refer to Figure 11.
2. Disconnect wires from ballast.
NOTE: Refer to appropriate wiring diagram
when rewiring ballast.
3. Set meter to read Ohms and apply meter probes
to terminals of ballast. Meter should register
approximately 20 Ohms.
