11 Measuring S/G and Temperature
The optional hydrometer reads specific gravity (SG) and temperature. The
data storage module, which holds data for up to eight strings
A to H , mounts
on the hydrometer. You may transfer SG and temperature readings from the
module in three ways: (1) module to Cellcorder via IR, (2) module to
computer via IR, or (3) module to computer via RS-232. The module IR port
interfaces with the Cellcorder, computer or PDA; the RS-232 port transfers
data to the computer. When using RS-232, refer to the
Battery Analysis
System User's Guide .
Main Menu > CRT Setup|Thresh|

|Temp
Fahrenheit or Celsius - When SG/Temp is selected, temperature displays in
degrees Fahrenheit (

F) or Celsius (

C). The universal setting for

F or

C is
under CRT Setup|Thresholds|Temperature.
11.1 Hydrometer Data to Cellcorder via IR
Transfer SG and temperature data from the hydrometer to the Cellcorder via
IR as follows:
1.
Main Menu > Load Data|Cell Data|


Before transferring data, you should select a cell data file into which SG
and temperature readings will be added. Select Cell Data, highlight a
.CDF file name, then press Select.
2. Main Menu > Test Mode|SG/Temp|Import
Select SG/Temperature, then press Import.
3. Press the hydrometer data module On button.
4. On the data module, press Sel to select the channel (string) A through H
from which data will be transferred. The module LEDs indicate memory
status as follows:
Fast - If the LED next to A through H is flashing fast, that channel has
data and is selected.
Steady - If the LED is on, that channel has data but is not selected.
Slow - If the LED is flashing slowly, the channel is selected but has no
data.
5. Align the data module IR port with the IR port on the right side of the
Cellcorder.
6. On the Cellcorder, press Continue. The Cellcorder displays Receiving
Data
, and the data module flashing LED stays lit.
