10.4 Taking Resistance Readings
Main Menu > Test Mode|Res|Test|Test
Before taking readings, you should select a site. When taking resistance
readings, a skewing effect of cell voltages produces a small error.
Press the F1 or orange Test button. If float voltage readings exist, the
Resistance screen flashes
Ready to Test
. If not, a message appears; select
Yes (recommended) to switch to Voltage mode, insert the voltage leads, and
select the cell number to read voltage. Resume resistance testing when
finished.
Figure 13. No VFloat Readings Message
If you select No, the Cellcorder concurrently reads voltage and resistance for
each cell.
TIP
: Taking voltage readings before resistance readings, rather than
concurrently, avoids the skewing effect on voltage measurements.
When
Ready to Test
is flashing, connect the three clip resistance probes to
the cell and intercell under test. If testing cells with single intercell
connectors, connect the probes as follows:
1) Red clip to the positive post of the cell being tested.
2) Red/Black clip to the negative post of the cell being tested.
3) Black clip to the positive post of the next cell.
If testing requires two to four intercell measurements, refer to
Application
Note CC-002
for probe connection diagrams.
NOTE: The standard jaws may not provide the best connection to some cell
posts. If you encounter poor post connection, contact Albér for alternate or
custom jaws at nominal cost.
The Resistance screen displays
Vc(act)
or
Vc(mem)
. Vc(act) shows the actual
cell voltage being read. Vc(mem) means the cell voltage was read earlier and
is in memory.
