13.3 TRANSPORT SAFETIES
The spray boom is folded into position X, which means that the weight of the boom arms on its own
prevents uncontrolled opening of the arms in the transport position. The transport position of the spray
boom is precisely specified and mechanically secured. This is ensured by mechanical supports and
safeguards mounted on the frame of the sprayer. The sprayer with the spray boom constitutes an
integral whole. When the spray boom is lifted and opened, the mechanical guards are released and you
are able to control all the hydraulic functions. To close the boom, the spray boom must first be lifted
until the hydraulic non-return valve is activated (see the chapter MECHANICAL SAFETIES
AGAINST OPENING OF BOOMS IN TRANSPORT POSITION) and then it must be folded with
electro-hydraulic control and lowered onto the mechanical safeguard.
