Chapter 4
Preparing to Run an Autotest 32
The Cable Database configuration screen prompts you to either enter/edit a
cable description or select one from the list already stored on the WireScope
350. If you see the part number of the cable you are using, select it and press
or
OK
to complete cable selection and return to the Autotest Settings
screen.
If you do not see the cable you are using already listed in the WireScope 350,
select
Add New Description
and follow the instructions to add the specification
data for the new cable.
Specifying the connecting hardware
You can use this setting to store information in each test record about the type of
connecting hardware used to terminate the tested cable runs. You can either
select the connecting hardware part number from a pre-loaded list or you can
enter a description or part number.
The nominal performance grade (i.e. Category 6) of the connecting hardware
can be specified in order to assist the WireScope 350 in identifying
misconfiguration errors.
To enter connecting hardware information starting at the Autotest Settings
screen, select the connector icon and press
or
Edit
.
NOTE:
When testing Category 6 or Class E Channels using the Universal Channel
adapters, this selection is very important for obtaining maximum accuracy
during measurements.
