Agilent Sample Introduction Pump System SIPS 10/20 User’s Guide
Check the nebulizer uptake rate, adjusting it if necessary to
increase it to the required rate of 5 mL/min. You can also
reduce the Maximum pump speed to prevent flooding of the
nebulizer. Disconnect the Mariotte vessel and replace the
diluent solution.
The value entered for the minimum absorbance reading, used as
the contamination test limit, is set too low.
Recall the method and check that the minimum absorbance
reading is set to a realistic value e.g. 0.005 abs.
No Flame Detected – SIPS Operation Cannot Continue
The error message “No flame detected – SIPS operation cannot
continue" appears.
You will encounter this message if you attempt to start SIPS without
the flame on, or if the flame goes out while SIPS is pumping. This is
to prevent the contamination of the diluent, which occurs if SIPS is
allowed to pump solution without the flame on.
Dilution Factor > 50
The error message “Dilution factor > 50" appears during an autorun.
To ensure accurate results, all samples which have been diluted by a
factor greater than 50 will be flagged and this error message
displayed. The message is only a warning that diluting the sample by
such a large factor may introduce unacceptable errors in the results.
Dilution factor > 200
The error message “Dilution factor > 200" appears during an autorun.
The maximum dilution factor possible with SIPS is 200. This message
informs you that a dilution factor exceeding 200 is required to get the
current solution into range, so the dilution was not performed.
