TV TYPE: TV-Standard (PAL, AUTO, NTSC)
In the TV TYPE menu item you can define a colour system (TV-Standard,colour broadcast system).
The following TV standards are available (colour broadcast system):
• PAL: Select this option, if the DVD machine is connected to a PAL system television. The PAL colour broadcast system
is used mainly in Europe but also in Australia, South America as well as in many African and Asian countries.
• AUTO: Select this option, if the DVD machine is connected to a multi system television (compatible with PAL as
well as NTSC colour broadcast system).
• NTSC: Select this option, if the DVD machine is connected to an NTSC system television. The NTSC- colour
broadcast system is used in many parts of the Americas and in some countries in the Far East.
Notes:
• If you have selected a TV standard which is not compatible with the connected television, the picture may
flicker or may be black and white only.
• You can find details on the TV standards in the user manual for your television.
• You can also press the PAL/NTSC button to select the correct colour broadcast system for your television.
PBC: Playback control
In this menu item you can activate (ON) or deactivate (OFF) the Playback Control. This function is available for discs
which support Playback Control (PBC) e.g. VCD 2.0. and SVCD.
If you have activated playback control (ON), a playback menu appears on the screen after you have inserted a VCD
or SVCD disc into the disc tray.
AUDIO: Audio Language
In this menu item you can set you preferred audio language for DVD discs (language for film dialogue or Synchro-
nisation).

, select your preferred language e.g. GERMAN and press PLAY/ENTER, to
activate the setting.
Dialogue is played back in this language, provided that this language version is available on the disc. If this is not
the case, dialogue is played back in the default language.
Notes:
• The number and type of audio languages depends on the manufacturer of the respective disc and can differ
significantly from disc to disc. The machine has no influence on the number and type of audio (dialogue, syn-
chronisation) languages of a disc.
• To change the audio language of the respective DVD disc, you can also use the L/R/LANGUAGE button on the
remote.
• Normally the audio language can also be selected in the disc menu. To open a disc menu, press the MENU button.
SUBTITLE: Subtitle language
In this Menu item, you can set your preferred subtitle language of the DVD disc.

ton to activate the setting.
Subtitles are displayed in this language, provided that this language version is available on the disc. If this is not
the case, subtitles are displayed in the default language.
