20. Lifting the operating head up to protect

the sample probe, rotate and release it in
a position such that the probe is centered
between the probe wipers.  

21. Remove and discard the lower rear head

drive motor mounting screw.  

22. In place of the discarded motor-mounting

screw, install the long screw supplied,
through a washer, the 3/8" cable clamp,
motor mounting bracket, motor foot, and
3/16" cable clamp and loosely install the
second washer and the nut.  

23. Holding the operating head up to protect

the sample probe, swing the operating
head through its full arc of travel.
Observe how much slack is needed, and
use the supplied cable-tie to tie the new
cable to the main cable so as to allow the
operating head full movement without
allowing the cable to bind in the sensor
flag, power supply heat sinks or any
other component.  

24. Leave the operating head in the position

with the probe centered between the
probe wipers for protection.  

25. Temporarily reconnect the power cord,

turn on the instrument power, and check
for proper operation of the instrument
before finally closing the back cover.

CAUTION:

During this check, be
extremely careful to avoid
contact with the electrical
components inside the
instrument, especially the
backs of the fuses, power
switch and power supply.

26. Shut off the power switch and

disconnect the power cord before
reconnecting the fan and reinstalling the
back cover of the instrument.

27. Reconnect the fan and replace the back

cover.  

28. Reconnect the power cord and turn on

the power switch.  The instrument will
run the self-diagnostics program,
described in the user's guide.
