INSITE ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

• Wireless M-Bus encryption

Typically most of the meters sent their frames encrypted due to security reasons. INS-WM module allows

to store up to 64 individual keys for decryption data.

For management of security keys module use Modbus custom function requests:

0x70 – Add meter

This special function is implemented to store information in non-volatile device memory about meter

decryption key. Each Wireless M-Bus meter that send wireless data, have its own encryption key and

unique meter ID. So without these information, device cannot process received data.

This function should be used once with unique MFIELD and MID. Multiple calling this function doesn’t

have any effect – no overwriting existing key is performed. By remove key pointed by MFIELD and MID,

use 0x71 Remove meter.
