Draining the Water Heater Tank

Whenever the w ater heater is not used for an
extend ed p eriod , unp lug the unit and d rain. If
it is b elow freezing tem p erature, you w ill
need to unp lug the unit and d rain it.

Sw itch OFF the electric sup p ly to the w ater
heater.
‡
Op en the hot w ater faucet until the w ater
runs cool.
‡
Close cold w ater sup p ly.
‡
Drain the w ater b y lifting the Discharg e
Lever of the Multi-function Safety valve
up w ard s. (Fig . 20)
Please turn off the p ow er sup p ly to the w ater heater p rior to d raining the w ater heater.
