Visible Loss or Damage
If any of the g ood s called for on the b ill of lad ing or exp ress receip t are d am ag ed or the
q uantity is short, d o not accep t them until the freig ht or exp ress d elivery ag ent m akes an
ap p rop riate notation on your freig ht b ill or receip t.
Concealed Loss or Damage
When a ship m ent has b een d elivered to you in ap p arent g ood cond ition, b ut up on op ening
the p ackag ing if any loss or d am ag e has taken p lace w hile in transit, inform the carrier’s
ag ent / A. O. Sm ith rep resentative im m ed iately.
