Linux Installation

Installing the ATA RAID controller while
installing SuSE Linux with YaST2

Materials required

• 3ware CD-ROM

(You will be required to create a 3ware Linux Driver Installation
Diskette from the files located on the 3ware CD-ROM. Please
refer to the "Readme.txt" file on the 3ware CD-ROM for direc-
tions.)

• SuSE Linux Installation CD-ROM/DVD

Note:

We have tested systems where an IDE drive con-

nected to the motherboard interfered with using the
Escalade ATA RAID Controller as a boot device. Discon-
necting the IDE drive while installing Linux will eliminate
this problem. After Linux is installed, the drive can be
reconnected.

Create disk arrays

Refer to the

3ware Hardware Installation

and

3ware Disk Array

Configuration Utility

Boot with the SuSE CD/DVD

1 Boot directly from the SuSE installation CD #1 or DVD.
2 Select the desired language and keymap.
3 Jump to a console by pressing

Ctrl+Alt+F2
