6.1 cLEANING:
Periodically clean the exterior of the R550 with water and mild detergent. Position the device so excess water
will drain out. Clean labels as required. Clean lifeline with water and mild detergent. Rinse and thoroughly air dry. Do not
force dry with heat. A buildup of dirt, paint, or other materials may prevent the lifeline from pulling through the device.
Ensure no knots are present.

Humidity Resistant case:
If inspection of the Humidity Indicator per the
“Inspection and Maintenance Log”
(Table 2)
indicates that the Humidity Resistant Case has experienced high humidity, perform the following
maintenance:
1.
Replace the Pie Sector Indicator Disc:
See Figure 13 for reference. Replacing the Pie Sector Indicator Disc
requires a new disc to be inserted within the Humidity Indicator. To replace the Indicator Disc:
•
Grasp the Humidity Indicator by the Hex Flange (E) on the outside of the Humidity Resisitant Case.
•
Insert a 1/2” hex wrench or Allen wrench (A) into the externally-threaded Collar (B) and turn the Collar
counter-clockwise to loosen.
• Remove the Collar (B) from the Humidity Indicator assembly.
•
With the Humidity Indicator now open, remove the Teflon Washer (C) from within the assembly.
• Remove the old Pie Sector Indicator Disc (D) from the Humidity Indicator.
•
Install a new Indicator Disc (9505223) within the Humidity Indicator.
•
Place the Teflon Washer (C) back inside the Humidity Indicator, on top of the new Indicator Disc.
•
Install the externally-threaded Collar (B) over the washer to secure the indicator disc assembly in place.
•
Hold the Humidity Indicator by the Hex Flange (E) and torque the externally-threaded Collar (B) to 5-6 N-m
(3.69 - 4.43 ft-lb).
2.
Replace Moisture Absorber Packets:
Just prior to resealing the humidity resistant case, replace all Moisture
Absorber Packets in the case with new Absorber Packets (9505148). Each new Moisture Absorber Packet is
wrapped in a foil bag. Remove the foil bag before placing the the new packet in the case.
