DESCRIPTION
ESSID
(Extended Service Set IDentity) The ESSID identifies the Service Set with which a
wireless station is associated. Wireless stations associating to the access point
(AP) must have the same ESSID. You can think of the ESSID as being similar to a
workgroup name in a Microsoft network.
Channel
A channel is a radio frequency used by IEEE 802.11b wireless devices. Channels
available depend on the AP you are connected to. The channel is determined
automatically using the site survey feature.
Mode
An
802.11b Ad-hoc
network is the simplest WLAN configuration, defined as two or
more wireless devices within range of each other that from an independent
network without the need of an access point (AP).
