Mounting the MX250
5.1
Introduction
This chapter explains the method for mounting the MX250 into the equipment rack.
Important
You must read the section on site selection and preparation before starting to
install the MX250. Refer to chapter 4, starting on page 21.
5.2
Equipment Rack
Zultys recommends installing the MX250 in the same secured wiring closet as the networking
equipment to which it connects. Devices typically connected to the MX250 include the firewall,
the LAN switch, the battery power system, and the provisioning computer.
All connections to the MX250 system are made at the rear panel. Leave space next to the rear
panel for cables and for personnel installing the system.
Warning
The MX250 system must be properly grounded (earthed). When the equipment is
mounted in an equipment rack, the rack must be connected to ground (earth). See
section 4.2.1 on page 22 for details on the proper grounding technique.
Warning
Ensure that the rack is properly mounted to the floor or has properly fitted
stabilizers so that it cannot move and will not tip over. If the rack tips over, it may
cause you bodily injury and may damage the equipment.
When mounting equipment in the equipment rack, place the equipment at the bottom of the rack
if it is the only equipment in the rack. If you mount the equipment in a partially filled rack, load
the rack from the bottom to the top with the heaviest equipment at the bottom of the rack.
