4.2.1
Earth Ground
The resistance between the equipment frame and earth ground (per UL 60950, paragraph 2.6.3.3)
should be less than 0.1
Ω
. An adequate earth ground is normally implemented with a copper rod
(about 15 mm or 0.6" diameter) driven at least 4 m (12 ft) into moist soil. Improve conductivity by
adding salt or magnesium sulphate to the soil surrounding the rod to a depth of 200 mm (0.6 ft);
periodic replenishing may be required.
4.2.2
Temperature
Install the MX250 where the temperature remains between 0°C and 40°C.
Warning
If you install the MX250 in an environment where the temperature is outside the
range 0°C ~ 40°C, this may result in bodily injury and damage to the MX250 or
surrounding equipment. You will also void your warranty.
4.2.3
Ventilation
The MX250 requires space on both sides for ample air flow. The internal fans move the air from
left to right as you look at the front of the equipment.
Important
Do not cover the slots and openings on the equipment. These are provided for
ventilation and protection against overheating.
4.2.4
Cable Lengths
Cable placement to associated equipment is an important site criteria. Figure 4-1 shows the
minimum and maximum length of any cables that you connect to the MX250.
The distance listed in the table for the T1 or E1 circuits is the maximum distance between the
MX250 chassis and the nearest T1 or E1 signal repeater. The actual cable used to connect to the
demarcation point may be significantly shorter.
The battery input to the MX250 uses a special connector. Zultys supplies a cable to connect to it,
the length of which is shown in the table.
