Overview of Connection to the Devices
Installed in a Hazardous Area
This section describes the overview of connection to the devices installed in a hazardous
area, giving some examples
Connection of FIO equipment for ATEX, IECEx, and UKEX
ProSafe-RS/ProSafe-RS Lite Ex “ec”/Type “n” compliant equipment can be connected to the
intrinsic safety equipment installed in Zone 0, Zone 1 and Zone 2 using a safety barrier and
explosion-proof wiring as shown in the following figures.
ProSafe-RS/ProSafe-RS Lite equipment can be connected to the Ex “ec”/Type “n” devices
installed in Zone 2 with explosion-proof wiring that is defined in IEC/EN 60079-14 and the rules/
standards of each country or region.
ProSafe-RS/ProSafe-RS Lite equipment can be connected to the flameproof devices installed
in Zone 1 / Zone 2 with explosion-proof wiring that is defined in IEC/EN 60079-14 and the rules/
standards of each country or region. (*1)
*1:
SCB100 / SCB110 shall not be installed in Zone 1.
When using SCB100/SCB110 to perform field wiring diagnosis to the field device installed in Zone 1, it is necessary to prepare
an element that has the same characteristics as SCB100/SCB110 and is compatible with Zone 1 installation. When using these
elements to realize the wiring diagnosis of the DI function, check the behavior with the actual connection environment before
using. Please contact with Yokogawa about the specification of SCB100/SCB110.
