Ground the Instrument before Making External Connections
Securely connect the protective grounding before connecting to the item under measurement
or to an external control unit. Before touching a circuit, turn off its power and check that it has
no voltage. To prevent electric shock and accidents, connect the ground of the probes or input
connectors to the ground potential of the device under measurement. The ground of each
signal input terminal (input connector) of this instrument is common with the instrument’s
protective ground (see the block diagram in appendix 3). Do not apply floating potential
signals to the input connector ground. This is extremely dangerous as doing so will cause a
short to the ground potential.
Measurement Category
The measurement category of this instrument’s signal input terminals is Other (O). Do not use
it to measure the main power supply or for Measurement Categories II, III, and IV.
