REMOVING THE REAR WHEEL (DISC)
NOTICE
ECA1XC1021
(For ABS models)
• Keep any type of magnets (including mag-
netic pick-up tools, magnetic screwdrivers,
etc.) away from the rear wheel sensor “1” or
rear wheel sensor rotor “2”; otherwise, the
sensor or rotor may be damaged, resulting
in improper performance of the ABS sys-
tem.
• Do not drop the rear wheel sensor rotor or
subject it to shocks.
• If any solvent gets on the rear wheel sensor
rotor, wipe it off immediately.
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.

Securely support the vehicle so that there is
no danger of it falling over.
TIP
Place the vehicle on a suitable stand so that the
rear wheel is elevated.
2. Remove:
• Rear brake caliper
• Rear wheel sensor lead holder (for ABS mod-
els)
• Rear wheel sensor (for ABS models)

• Do not depress the brake pedal when re-
moving the brake caliper.
• Be sure not to contact the sensor electrode
to any metal part when removing the rear
wheel sensor from the rear brake caliper
bracket. (for ABS models)
3. Loosen:
• Drive belt adjusting bolt locknuts “1”
• Drive belt adjusting bolts “2”
4. Remove:
• Rear wheel axle nut
• Rear wheel axle
• Rear wheel
TIP
Push the rear wheel forward and remove the
drive belt from the rear wheel pulley.

For ABS models
• Do not drop the wheel sensor rotor or sub-
ject it to shocks.
• If any solvent gets on the wheel sensor ro-
tor, wipe it off immediately.
1. Remove:
• Oil seals
• Wheel bearings

WHEEL” on page 4-13.

• Rear wheel axle
• Rear wheel
• Wheel bearings
• Oil seals
Refer to “CHECKING THE FRONT WHEEL”
on page 4-13.
2. Check:
• Tire
• Rear wheel
Damage/wear
→
Replace.
Refer to “CHECKING THE TIRES” on page
3-15 and “CHECKING THE WHEELS” on
page 3-15.
3. Measure:
• Radial wheel runout
