a. Select a suitable shim(s) using the following
chart.
b. If increased by more than 0.2 mm (0.008 in):
Reduce the final drive ring gear shim (ring
gear bearing housing side) “3” thickness by
0.2 mm (0.008 in) for every 0.2 mm (0.008 in)
that the final drive ring gear shim (final drive
case side) “4” is increased.
c. If reduced by more than 0.2 mm (0.008 in):
Increase the final drive ring gear shim (ring
gear bearing housing side) “3” thickness by
0.2 mm (0.008 in) for every 0.2 mm (0.008 in)
that the final drive ring gear shim (final drive
case side) “4” is decreased.
TIP
Be sure to use one of each of the final drive ring
gear shim (ring gear bearing housing side) “3”
and final drive ring gear shim (final drive case
side) “4” to obtain the shim thickness.

1. Install:
• Final drive pinion gear assembly “1”

▼▼▼
a. Install the crankcase separating tool “2”.
b. Screw in the center bolt “3” of the crankcase
separating tool several turns to press the final
drive pinion gear assembly slightly into the fi-
nal drive case “4”.
TIP
Press the final drive pinion gear assembly until
the four final drive pinion gear assembly bolts
can be installed.
c. Tighten the final drive pinion gear bearing
housing bolts in stages using a crisscross
pattern until the final drive pinion gear assem-
bly is pressed completely into the final drive
case.

• Sealant
(onto the washer contact surface and splines
