Camshaft

Remove the timing chain guide (exhaust
side).

Remove the intake camshaft caps and ex-
haust camshaft caps.

TIP:

Loosen the camshaft cap bolts in the opposite
order used for tightening.

Remove the intake camshaft “1” and ex-
haust camshaft “2”.

TIP:

Fasten the timing chain using a wire “3”.

Camshaft sprocket removal

Hold the camshaft sprocket using the spe-
cial service tool “1”, and then loosen the
camshaft sprocket bolts “2”.

Remove the intake camshaft sprocket and
exhaust camshaft sprocket.

Camshaft check

Check the camshaft lobes. Replace if pit-
ted or scratched.

Measure the cam lobe height “a”. Replace
if out of specification.

Measure the camshaft journal diameter
“a”.

Measure the camshaft runout. Replace if
out of specification.
