Replace stator assembly.

Connect the engine tachometer to spark plug
lead #1.

Connect the pocket tester (DC 20 V) to the bat-
tery.

3. Charging voltage

MEETS SPECIFICATION

Replace battery.

Tester (+) lead

Tester (–) lead

Battery (–) lead

Disconnect A.C. magneto coupler from the
wire harness.

Connect the pocket tester “

Ω

1” to the stator

coils.

Measure the stator coil resistance.

4. Stator coil resistance

BOTH MEET
SPECIFICATION

Start the engine, accelerate to about, 5,000
r / min then check the measured voltage.

Check battery voltage.

Charging voltage = measured
voltage – terminal voltage:

Difference of 0.5

2.5 V

NOTE:

Use a fully charged battery.
