4.2 INSTALLATION
WARNING
Never attempt to install or remove any boards
before turning off the power to the bus, and all
related external power supplies.
1. Turn power to the VMEbus cardcage to
OFF
and disconnect the power cable.
2. Configure both the CPU and I/O cards for the particular application. All information
on this is in Chapters 2 and 3.
CAUTION
DO NOT use excessive force or pressure to engage
the connectors. If the board does not properly
connect with the backplane, remove the module
and inspect all connectors and guide slots for
possible damage or obstructions.
3. Install the XVME-682 into the cardcage by centering the board(s) on the plastic guides
in the slots and pushing the cards slowly toward the rear of the chassis until the
connectors engage (the cards should slide freely in the plastic guides).
4. Secure the board(s) to the chassis by tightening the two machine screws at the top and
bottom of each board.
5. Attach the short ribbon cable provided to the rear of the VMEbus P2 backplane,
connecting the slot containing the CPU module with the slot containing the I/O
module.
6. Connect the disk drives to the front of the I/O module, in accordance with the Figure
4-2.
NOTE
Use Hard Drive Data 0 (JK4) when only one hard
