B.2 I/O MODULE DEFAULT JUMPER CONFIGURATIONS
The XVME-682 I/O module is shipped in the following jumper configurations. Table B-2 lists
the various jumpers on the XVME-682 I/O module and their uses.

I/O Address for Floppy Disk Controller:
A = use secondary address (372-377H)
B = use primary address (3F2-3F7H)
I/O Address for Hard Disk Controller:
IN = use secondary address of (I70-177H)
OUT = use primary address of (1F0-1F7H)
Status Read
IN = Status read is latched
OUT = Status read is not latched.
J3 is left OUT with the COMPAQ 286.
Hard Disk Drive Configuration
A = Supports only 2-head, 612-cylinder
hard-disk drive with standard system
setup for 4-head, 306-cylinder drive.
B = Supports any hard disk drive listed
on BIOS hard drive table.
Step rate
A = Selects 16 microsec. step rate
B = Selects 35 microsec. step rate
EGA I/O Address
IN = selects secondary address (2xxH)
OUT = selects primary address (3xxH)
