Cleaning the Erase
Rod
If the erase rod is in good condition, clean it as follows:
1.
Press back on the release clip and remove the erase rod. (Note its current
position.)
2.
Prepare a cleaning brush by cutting down a 0.5" (13 mm) wide paint
brush to a bristle length of 0.5" (13 mm).
3.
Gently brush the spiral wires in the direction of the wire, using caution to
preserve the spacing between the wires.
4.
Press the release clip slightly and insert the erase rod. Rotate the erase rod
to its original position.
Installing the Erase
Rod
When the erase rod appears to be clean, install it as follows:
1.
Grasp the erase rod assembly with the erase rod facing the imaging drum.
2.
Slide the assembly toward the print engine and down the slot of the print
engine.
3.
When the erase assembly is fully inserted, the holder will run parallel to
the imaging drum, and will rest against a stop on either side. Visually
check, making certain that the rod is seated gently against the stops. This
will ensure the correct spacing.
4.
Reconnect the 5-pin power connector at the right side of the erase rod
holder. It is keyed to connect only one way.
5.
Close all doors and restart the printing system.

Replacing the Print Engine Card Cage Filter
The card cage filter is located inside the top cover of each print engine card
cage. Check these filters monthly to make sure they are clean. Excessive dirt
will prevent the fans from working properly, and could cause overheating in
the card cage.
If a filter is only slightly dirty, you can clean it by shaking it or running water
through it; otherwise, remove the filter and replace it with a new one.
To replace the card cage filter:
1.
Stop the printing system and open the print engine doors.
2.
Pull up on each of the fasteners securing the filter holder assembly to the
top of the print engine card cage.
3.
Lift the filter holder assembly off the card cage.
4.
Remove the wire screen, and remove and discard the old filter.
5.
Install the new filter. Make sure that the filter covers the entire filter
opening.
6.
Reinstall the wire screen.
7.
Place the filter holder assembly back on top of the card cage.
8.
Push down on each of the fasteners to secure the filter holder assembly to
the top of the card cage.
