Moisture content Paper has a tendency to curl when exposed to the heat inside
xerographic equipment. Paper with a low moisture content
tends to curl less. Paper with an excessive moisture content
tends to cause paper jams. The maximum recommended
moisture content is 5.7 percent.
Grain
Purchase long–grain paper to ensure trouble–free printing.
Also, ensure that the grain of the paper is parallel with the long
edge so that the paper stacks properly.
Paper storage Following are some suggestions for storing paper:
•
Store paper in its own wrapper. Do not leave it unwrapped
or in a place where it can be damaged by dampness or
heat.
•
Store paper on a flat surface, not on its side or edge.
•
Store paper in a closed cabinet.
•
Always store paper in a cool, dry area.
•
Store paper on pallets or shelves, not on the floor.
You may want to provide one or more storage cabinets for your
supplies. This not only protects the supplies, but also keeps
them in a central location so you can monitor the quantities.
