Synchro-phasing system control
To adjust the phase angle between the two engines, adapt the reference speed of any one or two
engines.
The synchro-phasing system has an additional CCM which is installed on each engine. The
additional MCM and LDU are installed in the engine control room. The CCMs calculate the engine
speed and crank angle of each engine and transmits these signals to the additional MCM.
The MCM uses a close-loop PID controller to calculate a speed setpoint offset based on the
difference between the correct and actual crank angle offset of the engine. This speed setpoint
offset with a limit of ±0.5 rpm gets transmitted to the speed controller of each engine.
The operator can use an additional LDU to monitor and manipulate the synchro-phasing system.
UNITool software is use to configure the other system parameter changes and services.
The synchro-phasing system operates continuously to prevent the speed deviation occurs due to
weather, sea currents, navigational changes and combustion process fluctuations.
6.6.3
Synchro-phasing system operating modes
Use an additional LDU to manually operate the synchro-phasing system. There are three operation
modes:
•
Operation mode “Off”
•
Operation mode “Estimate Only”
