standards. If a separate protective earth conductor is
available, it must be connected to the marked drilled
hole or earth terminal (
;
) using a suitable screw, nut,
toothed washer and flat washer. The cross-section of
the cable for the protective earth conductor connec-
tion must comply with local regulations.
•
A motor protection switch must be installed for
three-phase AC motors.
We recommend using a resi-
dual-current device (RCD).
• Switchgears must be purchased as accessories.
5.6.1 Technical information
Only slow-blow fuses or K-type circuit breakers may
be used as a back-up fuse.
5.6.2 Wiring diagram
The wires of the connection cable are assigned as fol-
lows:
5.6.3 Connecting the monitoring equipment
Each monitoring device must always be connected!
Temperature monitoring motor winding
Bimetallic strips are connected in the switchgear itself
or via an evaluation relay. When the threshold is
reached, the motor must switch off.
• Max. connection values: 250 V (AC), 2.5 A, cos
φ
= 1
• Wiring diagram: WSK
The following must be observed when operating in an
explosive atmosphere:
• The temperature monitoring must be connected via
an evaluation relay!
We recommend the “CM-MSS” relay for this. The
threshold is already pre-set.
• Deactivation must be conducted with an anti-reacti-
vation device! Reactivation should only be possible if
the “release button” has been manually activated!
For this reason, no warranty claims can be accepted for
any damage to the winding resulting from unsuitable
motor monitoring!
Moisture monitoring motor compartment
The moisture sensor must be connected via an evalua-
tion relay. The threshold is 30 k
Ω
. When the threshold
is reached, the motor must switch off. We recommend
the “NIV 101/A” relay for this.
• Max. connection values: 30 V (DC), 30 mA
• Wiring diagram: DI
5.6.4 Switch-on the units for star-delta starting directly
Units, which are switched for the star-delta starting,
can also be used for direct starting. Here individual
wires must be connected as follows:
The local energy supply company defines the
power consumption (P
1
) from which a direct or
star-delta starting must be used. If you would
like to operate products in direct starting, which
is above this limit, the local energy supply com-
pany must give its consent for the same.
5.7 Motor protection and activation types
5.7.1 Motor protection
The minimum requirement for three-phase motors is a
thermal relay/motor protection switch with tempera-
ture compensation, differential triggering and an anti-
reactivation device in accordance with VDE 0660 or the
appropriate national regulations.
If the device is connected to electrical systems in which
faults frequently occur, we recommend installing addi-
tional protective devices on-site (overvoltage, under-
voltage or phase failure relays, lightning protection
etc.). We also recommend installing a residual-current
device.
