– Prepare two 12-inch long #22 white wires, twisted. Install quick-disconnect terminals on
each wire at one end of the twisted pair. On the other end of the twisted pair, install the
miniature quick-disconnect connectors provided with the relay. Note that these two
connector types are not interchangeable. Route the cable through the cable clamp adjacent
to RYL1 and the power supply PWB.
– Attach the white twisted pair miniature connectors to the mating “coil” posts on RYL51.
Attach the standard-size connectors to the RYL51a and RYL51b posts on the power
supply PWB. The wires can go to either post.
The primary power connections have now been made. Recheck your work.
5.4.11 Chassis-Mounted Controls
In the following steps, the Hum Balance, Bias Adjust, and Right/Left Channel Drive Balance
potentiometers will be connected. Terminal numbering for the chassis-mounted potentiometers is
shown in Figure 5.9.
– Prepare two 19-inch long #22 green wires. Install quick-disconnect connectors on one end
of each wire. Place the connectors together and twist the wires, leaving about two inches
free on each end. Route the pair through the cable clamp adjacent to RYL51 and the power
supply PWB. Route the connectors to the center of the PWB.
– Connect the green wires to the R60a and R60b posts on the power supply PWB.
– Route the free end of the green wires to Hum Balance control R60, which is located at the
rear of the chassis, adjacent to the back panel. Trim the wire lengths if needed. Secure one
wire to each end of R60 (terminals 1 and 3). Solder in place. Note that it may be necessary
to temporarily remove one or more of the wires to the back panel ac power connector. Be
certain to properly reconnect the wires as needed.
