5.4.7 Install Remaining Chassis Components
Locate the remaining chassis components, which include the following:
•
AC line filter
•
Panel-mount potentiometers (4)
•
Banana jacks (2)
– Install the ac line filter (FL51) using the hardware provided. Use the chassis layout
drawing (Figure 5.5) as a guide. Note that the input (line) terminals should face the ac
power connector on the back panel. Be sure to include the ground lug on the “line” side of
the component.
– Mount R60 –
100
Ω
potentiometer
– Hum Balance Control. Note the tab extending from
the component toward the front of the device. Using a pair of pliers, bend the tab down to
the base of the potentiometer. Place the lock washer provided on the shaft and insert the
device through the mounting hole. Note that R60 is located closest to the back panel.
Secure with the large nut provided. Before tightening the nut, orient the terminals so they
are easily accessible from underneath the chassis. Be careful to not scratch the top-side
finish when tightening the nut. Once the device has been mounted, place the potentiometer
in the approximate center position using a common-blade screwdriver. The smaller-
diameter nut provided with the control is used to secure the position of the device to
prevent accidental movement. Place the locking nut on the shaft (finger-tight).
– Mount R61 –
5 k
Ω
potentiometer
– Bias Adjust Control. Note the tab extending from the
component toward the front of the device. Using a pair of pliers, bend the tab down to the
base of the potentiometer. Place the lock washer provided on the shaft and insert the
device through the mounting hole. Secure with the large nut provided. Before tightening
the nut, orient the terminals so they are easily accessible from underneath the chassis. Be
careful to not scratch the top-side finish when tightening the nut. Once the device has been
mounted, place the potentiometer in the approximate center position using a common-
blade screwdriver. The smaller-diameter nut provided with the control is used to secure
the position of the device to prevent accidental movement. Place the locking nut on the
shaft (finger-tight).
