THEORY OF OPERATION

INTRODUCTION

The VMW Vertical Modular Washer represents several familiar features from prior designs. It

utilizes and improves on the best systems from prior Whirlpool top load automatic washer de-

signs and integrates them into this new design.

DRIVE SYSTEM

Motor –

Bi-directional PSC (Permanent Split Capacitor) 120VAC. Agitation and variable

spin speeds are accomplished by applying power in pulses.

Transmission –

The transmission is a non-serviceable belt driven component.

- Inner shaft top splines connect to the agitator.
- Bottom splines connect to the splutch pulley.
- Outer shafts top splines connect to the basket.
- Bottom splines connect to the inner splines of the splutch cam.
