Important information on electromagnetic compatibility
(EMC)
A high number of electronic devices such as PCs, mobile tele-
phones, etc., may cause electromagnetic disturbances in the
use of medical electronic devices. Electromagnetic disturbanc-
es may lead to failure in medical devices and possibly result in
dangerous situations. Medical products must also not lead to
faults in other devices.
The standard IEC60601-1-2 was introduced in order to meet
EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) requirements and pre-
vent dangerous situations with such devices. This standard
specifies the immunity of devices to electromagnetic interfer-
ence and the maximum values for electromagnetic emissions
for medical devices.
