Cleaning out the board
Do not EVER use a high pressure hose to clean the inside of the board. Water ingress into the electronics housing will void your
warranty and cause permanent damage
.
From time to time, the board may require cleaning out. It may take on sand or silt or other small debris. The best way to clean it out is to
remove the drain plug using a shifter or ring spanner. This will leave a hole around 2cm in diameter at the tail of the board. You can then
stand the board on its tail and thoroughly hose out the board. Debris should be able to escape through this hole. You may need to tilt the
board over, as debris may settle on the other side of the board rather than escape through the hole. Remember to re-install the drain plug
after you’re finished, or the next ride will be a short one!
When re-installing the drain plug, do so carefully and
don’t overtighten it, or you may strip the
thread.
If you have used the board in salt water and are concerned that there may be some salt build up inside the board, you may wish to
purchase a product like “salt
-
away” to dissolve the salt.
Do not use a home remedy like vinegar or detergent to clean the board or dissolve salt. They may cause damage to components of the
board.
Ensure you grease the board after a really thorough clean, as the cleaning process may take some of the grease with it.
Replacing jet pump components
It is fairly straightforward to replace jet pump parts on your Kymera, but it is VERY important that you observe this warning before performing
any work:
If you’ve used your board in salt water, BEFORE you attempt to remove any bolts you should ensure that you thoroughly wash AN
D SOAK
your board in fresh water
–
even run it in a fresh water lake or river if you have the chance. Otherwise salt crystals inside the connectors may
lock them in place, preventing removal and even damaging the board.
This is especially important for the ¼” bolts securing the jet pump
assembly to the hull.
This video shows how to remove and re-install the jet pump and drive shaft coupler:

Normal wear and tear on the impeller and jet pump assembly is not covered under warranty. These are all consumable parts and are not
expensive to replace.
All warranty-related work should be communicated to Wavez prior to work commencing.
