4.
If you are concerned about residual water draining from the board you may like to sit it on a towel or with the chamois under the drain
plug.
5.
Don’t store your board in the transport carry bag. Any residual water in a sealed board in a sealed bag will cre
ate a sauna effect which is
bad for the board.
Extended Storage
It is important to dry out the board before storage for any extended periods of time to ensure your board doesn’t become moul
dy or attract
mosquitos
After draining water from the board, stand the board on its tail or lay it with the nose higher than the tail to get most of the water to exit the
board via the self-draining plug at the rear of the board.
When the plug stops expelling water, lay the board flat on the ground, a kayak stool or work horse. Water will pool near the front of the board
and use a chamois to remove any remaining water.
Leave both hatches open after use and cleaning to allow the board to dry fully.
Any residual salt water, or if the board is stored in a salty environment, creates the risk of rust and corrosion on all metalwork, as with all
vessels, vehicles and motors. It is critical to protect the board with corrosion inhibiters before storing for an extended period where the board
won’t be used and cleaned regularly.
On
ce the board is fully dry, apply one small squirt of grease into both grease nipples (don’t apply too much grease).
See the Servicing section
below.
Then, apply Inox or a similar water dispersant and corrosion inhibiter to all of the metalwork in the board, including but not limited to:
1.
the whole drive shaft
2.
the drive shaft bearings
3.
the motor, front and back
4.
all stainless screws and fixtures
Servicing
Properly cleaning and maintaining your Kymera is critically important to ensure longevity of the board.
Prevention
Do not ride your Kymera in shallow water, water with large amounts of debris (for example, after heavy rain) or in water with high levels
of particulate (for example sand or dirt).
After each use, remove the battery and drain the board of water completely. Avoid submerging electronics by tipping the board nose up
allowing water to drain out the rear.
