4.12
Safety for Starting and Stopping
◼
Check the tractor master shield over the PTO stub shaft. Ensure it is in good condition and
fastened securely to the tractor. Purchase a new one if it is damaged or missing.
◼
All tractors not equipped with a
‘
live
’
PTO need to be fitted with an over-running PTO clutch.
These clutches are available through most farm equipment stores.
N O T I CE :

The addition of an over-running PTO clutch may change the length of the
PTO driveline required.
•
Pay extra attention to the instructions on the PTO Driveline Installation.
Be sure that the driveline system guarding is adequate.

The mowing power is supplied from the tractor PTO. Refer to your tractor manual for PTO
instructions and Hydraulic system instructions. Know how to stop the tractor and mower
quickly in an emergency.

When engaging the PTO, the engine rpm should always run idle. Once engaged and ready to
start working, raise PTO speed to 540 rpm and maintain it throughout the working operation.

Calamities
Calamities are unintended or unexpected events related to an activity's quality. These events have
severe harmful consequences, up to and including death. This includes any accident that directly or
indirectly results in device damage and personal injury to one or more persons.

Concerning this flail mower, calamities arise when unauthorized persons use the machine.
Never lend the flail mower without the Operator's manual. Ensure that people always read and
understand the manual content before use.
