Air Filter
Inspect the air filter often if riding in unusually wet or
dusty conditions. Do not apply air filter oil to this air filter.
1. Remove the fuel tank. See page 58.
2. Loosen the three filter retainer screws.
3. Loosen the two air filter mounting screws only until
the filter can be removed.
Do not remove the screws
from the filter.
4. Remove the filter by pulling upward and rearward.
5. Clean the filter sealing surface on the frame.
6. Install the new air filter.
7. Tighten the mounting screws, then tighten the retainer
screws.
Torque: 36 in-lbs (4 Nm)
Fuel Tank Removal / Installation
Before beginning, be prepared to place the fuel tank in a secure location with a drain pan
positioned to catch any fuel that may leak or drip from disconnected hoses or fittings.
1. Remove the seat and both side covers.
2. Remove the right side access cover.
3. With the engine and exhaust cool, wrap a clean shop
towel around the fuel line fitting at the fuel rail. Dis-
connect it from the fuel rail by squeezing both release
buttons simultaneously. Gently slide the fitting from
the fuel rail.
NOTICE:
Fuel can damage painted surfaces and plastic parts.
Wipe up spilled fuel immediately using a clean, dry,
soft cloth.
4. At the rear of the tank, disconnect the tank vent hose
and the water drain hose.
5. Remove the ground wire screw.
6. Remove the tank mounting screws. Collect all grommets and bushings for reassembly.
