CineCast Quad Pro Version 2.6 Installation and User Manual
Fan Replacement
Fan Replacement
The Quad Pro decoder is not designed to operate for extended periods of time with-
out a properly functioning fan blower. If the front panel LED display indicates a fan
failure, or if it is otherwise determined that the fan is inoperative (possibly during
filter maintenance), then the fan must be replaced.
The fan removal and replacement procedure is as follows:
1. Power down the unit by depressing the power switch.
2. Disconnect the AC power cable from the rear of the unit.
3. Important: Review electrical warning on page 1 of this chapter.
4. Remove the front cover. Front cover removal requires no tools. The cover is
removed by simply gripping and pulling the plastic front panel cover straight out.
5. Remove the four access screws for the fan tray (see Figure 4-1 for location of
the fan access screws).
6. Remove the defective fan assembly.
7. Install the new fan assembly. The installation procedure is the reverse of the
removal procedure.
Power Supply Replacement
The Quad Pro ships with a primary and secondary power supply, providing oper-
ational redundancy. A failed power supply can be “hot swapped,” i.e., replaced
without having to shut off the decoder unit, allowing for uninterrupted operation
of the decoder. Hot swap replacement procedures are described below.
The first step in the replacement process is to identify which power supply has
failed, by observing the power supply indicator on the front panel LED display:
• Steady-on indicates a secondary power supply failure.
• Flashing indicates a primary power supply failure.
The primary power supply is the located closest to the power switch. The secondary
supply is located to the left of the fan access panel and will be marked “aux” or
“secondary” (see Figure 4-1). Both supplies are accessible from the front panel.
Primary Power Supply Replacement
The “hot swap” removal and replacement procedure for the primary power
supply is as follows:
Important: Due to normal electrical hazards, this procedure
must be performed by qualified personnel only!
