WRITE BUFFER
Microcode Data Validation and Save (Mode 101b only) occurs after the last 8K of
the 1024K is received by the decoder.
Single 1024-K Transfer:
128 8-K Transfers
This is accomplished by 128 separate
WRITE
BUFFER
commands as shown below:
(The Microcode Validation and Save are performed after the last 8K of the 1024K
have been received by the decoder.)
Mode 100b downloads microcode into a temporary buffer and validates the
microcode (Checksum). If valid microcode data exists, a Good status is returned.
If the data is invalid, a Check Condition status is returned. The contents of the
non-volatile memory are not altered for Mode 100h.
This mode can be used to verify that the microcode data is downloaded into the
decoder properly before committing the Save operation.
For Mode 101b, the downloaded code is first checked for validity (Checksum),
and then saved (Write) to non-volatile memory. If the download data is invalid or
the save was not successful, a Check Condition status is returned. Otherwise a
Good status is returned.
The download and save process takes approximately 60 seconds to complete.
Adjust SCSI command time-outs accordingly.
