5) Rotate by hand and check that the backing pad/disc is well
centred and well secured.
6) Keeping the grinder away from the body, carry out a test
run without a load for 1 minute.
ASSEMBLY OF THE ROTATING BRUSH (if present)
IMPORTANT! Wear protective gloves.
1) Turn the angle grinder upside down.
2) Temporarily block the rotation of the motor shaft by pressing
the button (pos.6).
3) Screw the brush in thoroughly using the key (if present),
taking care to hold the axle lock button during the clamp
(pos.5).
4) Rotate by hand and check that the brush is well centred
and well secured.
6) Keeping the grinder away from the body, carry out a test
run without a load for 1 minute.
STARTING, STOPPING
AND REGULATING SPEED
IMPORTANT! Before starting the power tool it is compulsory
to wear individual protection equipment (not provided).
IMPORTANT! Before starting the tool and during operation,
hold the tool firmly with both hands, using both handgrips,
without ever letting go, so that you can stop the machine
immediately in the case of danger.
IMPORTANT! While in use, ensure nobody
approaches your work station.
Plug the angle grinder into the electricity supply (the indicator
in pos.11 will inform you if there is electrical power). Operate
in accordance with the type of switch installed.
Starting and stopping the device
- to start, in sequence press the safety device (pos.5) and
then press the "ON - I" (pos.4) switch.
- to stop, release the "OFF - O" switch.
SPEED REGULATION
To regulate speed, use the regulator (pos.12, if present)
according to the scale:
- low number = high speed
- high number = low speed
We recommend repeating these operations several times
before starting work, in order to familiarise yourself with the
controls as far as possible.
If you notice any working defects, switch off the power tool
and consult the chapter “Problems, causes and solutions”.
When not using the tool, turn it off and disconnect the plug
from the socket.
USER INSTRUCTIONS
After reading the previous chapters carefully, apply these tips
meticulously to obtain
maximum performance. Proceed calmly so as to become
familiar with all the controls; after having gained sufficient
experience, you will be able to make full use of its capacities.
REGULATING SPEED ROTATION
You need to assess the type of work, type, diameter and
material of the part; perform tests at several speeds on a
scrap part before performing on real parts. As a rule, set the
speed according to the type of work and part being used. Also
observe any information provided with the parts; never exceed
the maximum rotation speed indicated.
USE
IMPORTANT! It is forbidden to use the sander-polisher with
only one hand. Do not use the sander-polisher to cut or polish
with abrasive discs.
Wear the personal protective equipment listed in the “War-
nings” chapter.
The item you are working on must always be secured to the
workbench, using a vice or other device, especially when
working on small, lightweight items.
Hold the device with both hands. The power cord must be kept
far from the rotating parts and from your body.
After assembling the part and choosing the speed (if present),
start the device keeping it far from your body. When switched
on, move it carefully, as any carelessness may cause even
severe injuries; so keep unauthorised people, children and
animals away from the work area.
The correct position of the operator is with arms stretched
forward, the polisher straight with the disc facing forward.
When in contact with the part, the sander will tend to move
laterally with a force which is proportional to the pressure
you will exert on the work surface; contrast this movement in
order to keep the sander in position. Furthermore, unexpected
kickbacks are always possible. See the "Warnings" chapter to
prevent and contrast this.
Depending on the type of process, perform on the part carefully
and proceed gradually without making forceful movements.
Excessive pressure on the part could cause the accessory
to break and tiny fragments may unexpectedly be launched
in your direction; in addition, the power tool will be put under
even more strain and it will not have a long life span or may
stop functioning altogether. Keep your face away from the
work surface and always
maintain a safe distance.
When sanding on metal parts, sparks may fly; this could da-
mage nearby objects or cause a fire/explosion if put in contact
with flammable elements.
When performing deburring operations, keep the sander at
a 15°-20° angle against the surface of the part.
Brushing on painted or oxidised surfaces, will produce a large
quantity of dust, even when working on metals and certain
types of wood. The dust is harmful to your health.
When polishing, do not apply excessive pressure, simply
use the weight of the angle grinder. When working on painted
surfaces, always proceed with caution in order no to scratch
the surface; it is advisable to perform a test on a part which
is not highly visible.
Once you have finished, switch off the tool, place it on the
table and unplug. Do not switch off the polisher/sander while
it is rotating against the part; wait for it to stop rotating before
placing it on the table.
MAINTENANCE
IMPORTANT! Before any checks or adjustment unplug the
tool from the electric power supply.
IMPORTANT! Do not tamper or attempt to repair the power
tool.
IMPORTANT! Any internal service or replacement of the
motor's graphite brushes must be carried out exclusively
by an authorised service centre.
